Not much should come between father and son and, like in this case, Plymouth Argyle Football Club is no exception. So, as many fans would have forseen, Tony Pulis Sr. has secured his the services of 21-year-old Anthony from Stoke City.

The pair will be reunited for the rest of the season while the promising midfielder enjoys a loan spell on the South Coast. Pulis Jr. was tied to contracted to the Potters when his father held the reins at the Brittania Stadium.

What with the Pilgrims' boss reiterating his desire to bring in fresh faces on a regular basis, it was only a matter of time until he made the most of his strong family ties in football to make up for the lack of arrivals during his time in charge of Argyle.

Youngster Anthony is a Welsh U21 international, renowned for a mixture of qualities that allow him to be effective in defence or central midfield. Whilst competition for a starting place is stronger than ever, the actual number of options will diminish should a string of injuries plague the Plymouth sqaud. There are 17 members of the Greens' first-team squad at present, though together with loanees Pulis and Pericard and fruitful academy products like Chris Zebroski, the squad looks to be gaining a little more depth.

The deal was first confirmed through the Staffordshire club, withy Director of Football John Rudge saying that it was "a good opportunity for Anthony to show what he can do". "Tony Pulis is short of players at Plymouth at the moment and thinks Anthony will be a good addition to his squad", he then added.
