Ward Still A Pilgrim

After speculation that he was to be recalled for first-team duties at West Ham, Pilgrims manager Tony Pulis has managed to negogiate an extension to Elliott Ward's loan deal. The 20-year old defender will play in Argyle Green for another month after Alan Pardew agreed to let Plymouth retain his services for the tricky christmas period.

It had been rumoured that Ward, who was heavily relied upon by the Hammers toward the end of last season, would be needed as cover for long-term injury victim Daniel Gabbidon. Ward, highly-regarded at Upton Park, has made great progress in the Argyle first-team and contributed to Saturday's clean sheet and impressive win against Crystal Palace.

United boss Pardew, however, did not hesitate to insist upon a get-out clause allowing Ward's immediate return to West Ham if need be. He is also not permitted to feature in Plymouth cup exploits, so will be unavavilable for the trip to Wolves.

Pulis, delighted with this deal, did not comment on the pending expiration of midfielder Jason Jarrett's temporary deal. Some sources at Home Park suggest that the January transfer window may see JJ make his move permanent.
