Santos has begun to find himself out of favour at QPR under caretaker manager Gary Waddock who is prepared to release him to get regular football elsewhere.

Argyle are not the only contenders for 6' 3” Santos' signature, as it has also been reported that Hull City are holding talks. The Tigers are believed to be Santos preferred choice after being quoted in the Humberside press as saying “I would like to go to Hull because I need first-team football.” Santos also played for Hull's nearby neighbours Grimsby Town in 2002-03.

Any deal though for the Cape Verde Islands stopper, who is out of contract at the end of this season, is not expected to take place until after the weekend. Any final decision where Santos goes on loan will be decided by QPR.

Argyle have not confirmed any approach for Santos but it is believed he may have held talks already. Tony Pulis has shown he is not put off signing experienced players in their thirties since arriving at Home Park in Spetember. Meanwhile, it is unlikely that the Pilgrims confirm a move for Santos unless he signs on the dotted line.
