Rufus Secures Move

As expected, Rufus Brevett has left Plymouth before the official expiry of his one year contract with the Pilgrims. The 36-year-old defender has agreed a short-term deal with Championship rivals Leicester City.

With Peter Gilbert's summer departure to the same club, Brevett was the only recognised left-back at Home Park after signing just a few weeks earlier. After 12 appearances, which saw his form gradually become more sluggish, he was replaced by Anthony Barness who made for Paul Connolly on his favoured starboard side.

Rob Kelly is the new man in charge at The Walkers Stadium. He has been given the reins until the end of the season following the departure of Craig Levein last month.

"I know him from his days at QPR, Fulham and West Ham", Kelly said, " he is left-sided, where we need strengthening, and he knows this division". Peter Gilbert, Brevett's predecessor at Home Park, left the Foxes after less than 6 months with the Midlands club - he is now at Sheffield Wednesday with former Argyle boss Paul Sturrock.

Brevett, obviously delighted at staying in the Championship, had few words to say about Tony Pulis. "I don't know the bloke", the veteran remarked bizarrely. "That’s the relationship we had".

With another defender out the door, and Paul Connolly due to serve a suspension for his red card against Derby, Tony Pulis' search for more bodies at the back is set to widen this week.
