PLAYERS FACE THE CHOP
"I think there will be one or two leaving", Tony Pulis told the Evening Herald - a quote that'll be ringing in the ears of those connected with Plymouth Argyle as January approaches. It's set for all change at Home Park in the new year with the manager looking to shape his squad for the final assault. With transfer activity again permitted on January 1st, Pulis has confirmed that "there might be a bit of a turnaround" as specualtion is rife of particular players said to be coming and going. This week, media attention has been focused on the future of 15-goal Grant Holt. Even now, reports have not died down about the Rochdale striker despite Pulis' dismissal of the rumours, as covered on 'Argyle Mad'.

All this talk of arrivals has fueled further speculation of departures from Home Park. Sky Sports reported that Scott Taylor is currently unsettled and is seeking a move away. Also, a story on 'Argyle Mad' earlier this month revealed Burnley's alleged interest in skipper Paul Wotton. Nothing have been heard of this story since, likewise the many Akos Buzsaky transfers that the media would have you believe were signed and sealed in November. However, the Hungarian International's lack of first-team action this month, due to a persistant abdominal injury, has meant the hype regarding his future has eased off. Even though this will undoubtedly please Plymouth fans, no-one is yet certain of the midfielder's fate.

One player leaving is Jason Jarrett, who is to be recalled by Norwich in the New Year. The 26-year old, former Wigan midfielder is on loan to Argyle but Canaries boss Nigel Worthington says that JJ is needed back at Carrow Road. Jarrett has been instrumental in recent matches and it's my gut feeling that Tony Pulis will be trying to arrange for Jason to stay, maybe through securing his services on a permanent basis.

Who do YOU think would be a sound addition to Tony Pulis' squad?
Do you wish to discuss other matters in the world of football?

So now, on the back of victory over Crystal Palace, the Argyle players have the chance to continue their good form and go one strp further. Argyle has not won away under Tony Pulis, but they did come very close against Watford earlier this month - Marlon King thwarted their efforts with a stoppage-time equaliser. With a settled XI going into the Cardiff game, Argyle players have every chance to impress the gaffer before the transfer window kicks in with what would be a fantastic second away win of the campaign.

ILL-FORTUNE
In the lead-up to the big day, the Pilgrims had several players miss training with a flu virus. However, just as Pulis forecasted, most players have recovered in time. Bojan Djordjic will be missing, but initial worries David Norris and Hasney Aljofree will be available. Akos Buzsaky, still not fully-fit, could make the bench for the trip to Cardiff, who incidentally have no fitness cocnerns.
