Plymouth Argyle's new boss Peter Reid has revealed midfielder Simon Walton may be on his way out of the club.The 22-year-old has only made 14 appearances for Plymouth since signing from QPR in 2008, and spent the whole of last season on loan at Crewe.
Reid told BBC Spotlight: "He's [Walton] intimated that he'd like to go on to other pastures.
"Over the next day or so something might be happening, but I can't say anything else at the moment."
Reid, who only took over as manager at Home Park last week, said he is not expecting Walton to be the last of his players to try and find a new club.
The 54-year-old said: "We had a meeting and I said to the lads if anyone wants to come and see me for any reason my office door is always open.
"I haven't seen anybody yet, so everyone must be happy, but I'm sure I'll see someone in the next couple of weeks."
Wednesday was the first day back in pre-season training for the Argyle squad, and the first chance for Reid to look at the players he has inherited at Home Park.
He said: "I've been really pleased with the players attitude.
"After last year you'd think there would be a bit of despondency about, but they've done everything we've asked."
And with last season's boss Paul Mariner still in place as head coach, alongside assistant John Carver, Reid said the transition into the top job has been made easier.
"It's terrific, it's invaluable [to have Mariner and Carver there]," said Reid. "But you've still got your own eye because we're all different.
"It's refreshing when you go somewhere new and I might see something that Paul and John haven't seen, but I have relied on them an awful lot.
"I've known them for ages and they're really good football people."
