Argyle give Reid heart

Both sides struggled to create chances in a disappointing first half and Charlton had to wait until the 55th minute to break the deadlock when Scott Wagstaff capitalised on a poor backpass before they made the game safe in the 90th minute through on-loan Liverpool striker Nathan Eccleston.

Reid said: "We handled the game quite well. We defended in the first half very well. In the second half they were the better side and it was that old adage - goals change games.

"We made a mistake and we've got punished, but overall I thought the players did terrifically well. It was a difficult day obviously with it being Chris Powell's first game and the crowd were up for it.

"But we handled the situation very well and possibly deserved better from the game. To be fair to the players they acquitted themselves really well."

Reid, who refused to blame Marcel Seip for the defender's misplaced backpass which led to Charlton's first goal, added: "Everyone makes mistakes, he didn't do it on purpose."
