Bristol C v Argyle. Early preview / team news

By Paul Stevens
Monday, 19th October 2009
Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock has indicated he will make major changes against Bristol City on Tuesday after the defeat at Blackpool.

Sturrock was thoroughly unimpressed by the Pilgrims display in the north west and says he is very close to knowing the team to face City at Ashton Gate.

"I have got to weigh up Pro Zone and all the match reports which will determine what I do on Tuesday," he told the club's official website.

"I'm very close to knowing the team now," he continued. "We worked very hard on certain things (on Monday morning)."

Cillian Sheridan will be hoping to have done enough to earn a starting spot after coming on at half-time against Blackpool but Sturrock is suffering something of a defensive crisis.

James Chester has returned to Manchester United with a long-term injury and Kari Arnason (hamstring), Chris Barker (calf) and Reda Johnson (calf) are still struggling.

Bristol City have no fresh injury worries heading into the match.

Manager Gary Johnson also has a suspension-free squad so is likely to name the same starting XI from the 1-1 draw with Peterborough.

However, long-term absentees Liam Fontaine and Brian Wilson are still unavailable.

Former Fulham defender Fontaine will be out for a further three weeks with an ankle injury and ex-Cheltenham midfielder Wilson is still out with a shin injury.

City head into the game unbeaten in their last four at Ashton Gate and looking for their first victory over West Country neighbours Plymouth since 2004.
