The 24-year-old defender has missed the past three league matches with shin splints but is now likely to regain his place in the side with Cole Skuse making way.

First-choice goalkeeper Adriano Basso (leg) has yet to make his return to first-team action but may be reinstated following the weekend's 2-0 defeat against Wolves.

Defender Bradley Orr suffered a knock against Doncaster last week but could feature against the Pilgrims

Meanwhile, in-form City winger Michael McIndoe believes victory against Plymouth the key to getting their season back on track.

"If we don't get a result in the next two games, we could find ourselves 12 or 15 points off top spot, which would be a dramatic gap."

Plymouth will be boosted by the return of left-back Jim Paterson.

Paterson suffered a thigh injury during the second half of the Pilgrims' 2-1 victory at Watford in mid-September and was replaced by Chris Barker.

Paterson has now returned to full training although Barker has since proven himself to be an able deputy - featuring in the successive victories over Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.

On-loan Manchester United central defender Craig Cathcart has now fully recovered from the thigh injury which saw him replaced by Krisztian Timar against Forest, while impressive midfielder Chris Clark is also fit.
