Chesterfield V Plymouth at Proact Stadium - Match Preview

Spireites sweat on duo

Liam Cooper and Jimmy Ryan have added to Chesterfield's injury problems ahead of the visit of Plymouth.

Defender Cooper (ankle) and midfielder Ryan (shoulder) are both nursing knocks following the midweek win over Oldham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and are doubts for the Spireites ahead of Saturday.

Callum McFadzean was cup-tied at Boundary Park and comes back into the reckoning along with fellow midfielder Jay O'Shea, who missed the semi-final victory against the Latics through illness.

Blues boss Paul Cook has revealed that striker Marc Richards will start against Argyle with Armand Gnanduillet set to miss out. Gnanduillet will join winger Gary Roberts (hamstring), midfielder Sam Morsy (knee) and full-back Nathan Smith (ankle) on the sidelines.

Plymouth could be boosted by the return of goalkeeper Jake Cole, just days after he was left on crutches.

The former Barnet keeper suffered bad shin and ankle bruising in the comfortable FA Cup win over Welling on Saturday but he has made a quick improvement since the weekend and could be involved at the Proact Stadium.

Defender Maxime Blanchard was also withdrawn against the Skrill Premier side but he too has made a swift recovery from an ankle injury and should be in contention.

Argyle make the trip having lost just once since October 19, a run which has dragged them up to 16th place and into the FA Cup third round.
