Leaders Plymouth claim derby spoils with win at Exeter

Two first-half goals were enough for Plymouth to claim bragging rights in the Devon derby with a 2-0 win at Exeter.

Argyle went ahead with their first attack of the match after six minutes

The ball was played in to Paul-Arnold Garita, who held of Luke Croll with ease before feeding Graham Carey to rifle the ball high into the net.

Exeter were struggling to do anything of note with Luke McCormick not having a save to make and after Argyle had one cleared off the line, they doubled their lead after 26 minutes.

Jordan Slew's through ball pierced the Exeter defence and Garita brushed off Croll to slip the ball past Bobby Olejnik for his first Argyle goal.

Exeter did improve with Robbie Simpson heading over from six yards following their best move of the match but it was Argyle that came closest to scoring again with Olejnik saving brilliantly from substitute Jake Jervis and then from one of his own defenders.

Lee Holmes rattled a post for Exeter while Argyle missed several chances to kill the game on the counter-attack as they picked up the win that keeps them top of League Two.
