Former Pilgrim Paul Marriner is strongly linked with the assistants job at Home Park.

The post is not vacant with Kevin Summerfield the current incumbent. But Marriner has been linked by the UK press.

He is currently No.2 to Steve Nicol at New England Revolution.

"I have been asked many times whether I would like to work in England but I have never had the opportunity," said Mariner, who scored the goal against Hungary which qualified England for the 1982 World Cup in Spain.

"When the opportunity comes along, I will make that decision."
