Mason selected for Ireland U-19s

Plymouth striker Joe Mason has been selected for the Republic of Ireland Under-19 squad for the European Championship qualifiers in Ukraine.The 18-year-old will be join the Irish squad for matches against England, Bosnia and Ukraine at the end of May.

Mason, who made 20 appearances for Argyle this season, was born in Plymouth but qualifies for Ireland through his mother.

The young striker scored three goals for the Pilgrims this term.

Mason could be joined by fellow Pilgrim Sean Kinsella, who has been put on standby by the Irish selectors.

The 18-year-old midfielder recently signed a professional contract with Argyle, but has yet to make his first-team debut for the club.

The Republic of Ireland begin their qualifying campaign against England on 26 May, before playing Ukraine two days later and then Bosnia on 31 May.
