Peterborough v Plymouth. Match preview

Ferguson was furious with the slack defending which allowed Blackpool to record a 2-0 win at the weekend and on-loan Birmingham defender Krystian Pearce is pushing for a first league start after he came on in the second half.

Winger Chris Whelpdale was introduced at half-time in place of Paul Coutts and could start as Ferguson goes for the win at home to the Championship's bottom side.

Utility man Charlie Lee remains sidelined with an ankle injury but Ferguson has no other problems as he looks for a second league win of the season.

He said: "I have said all along our home form will be key this season and we really need to put points on the board before the international break next month. But we will have to eradicate the errors that were made on Saturday."

Plymouth have suffered another injury blow as they prepare to end a seven-match Championship losing streak.

Iceland international midfielder Kari Arnason - who has been filling in at centre-back for the injury-hit Greens - suffered a hamstring injury during the first half of Sunday's 1-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest.

He was replaced by on-loan Manchester United central defender James Chester, 20, who made his Championship debut alongside fellow loanee Shane Lowry, making his first home start for Plymouth after shrugging off an ankle injury.

Arnason is ruled out of the clash with Posh along with Reda Johnson (knee) and experienced centre-half Chris Barker (calf).

Hungary defender Krisztian Timar will vie with Chester, who spent a spell on loan at Peterborough last season, for the starting spot alongside Lowry.
