Gallagher has sat out training this week because of a calf injury but was able to take part in a session on Thursday and should feature against the Canaries.

Sturrock may also hand debuts to two new signings in the shape of Belgian striker Emile Mpenza - who arrived on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City - and French winger Nicolas Marin who made a deadline-day loan move from Lorient.

Right-back David McNamee (calf) and left-back Gary Sawyer (hamstring) are ruled out of the clash while midfielder Luke Summerfield (hamstring) will undergo a late fitness test before Sturrock names his side.

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder is set to hand a debut to Antoine Sibierski when the Canaries make the long trip to Plymouth.

Sibierski was signed by Roeder for the second time on transfer deadline day on loan from Wigan and after shaking off a foot injury is ready to start against the Pilgrims.

On-loan Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Grounds could also make his debut if selected but Sammy Clingan is a out for a month after picking up a shoulder injury during Northern Ireland's 0-0 draw with the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

Elliot Omozusi missed the 1-1 draw with Birmingham a fortnight ago with a thigh injury and is a doubt while midfielder David Bell could be in the squad for the first time since his summer move from Luton after returning to training following an ankle injury.

Adam Drury is out after he suffered a depressed fracture of the cheek in a behind closed doors friendly and Gary Doherty is not expected back from his ankle injury until November at the earliest.
