Plymouth Argyle have signed Guadeloupe-born defender Stephane Zubar on an initial one-month rolling contract until he gets international clearance. The 23-year-old was on trial at Argyle during pre-season and appeared for the club in a friendly against QPR.

Plymouth boss Peter Reid said: "He is a right full-back, who can play in a few other positions.

He's a strong boy and he impressed me in the summer, but we couldn't do the deal then," added Reid.

Zubar played for SC Vaslui in Romania last season, having begun his career with SM Caen in France.

The defender, whose brother Ronald plays for Wolves, has also had spells on loan at Pau FC and FC Brussels.

Meanwhile, Reid has denied newspaper reports that Argyle made a bid for Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre.
