Plymouth V Bristol Rovers at Home Park - Match Preview

Nelson blow for Argyle

Plymouth will be without Curtis Nelson when they take on Bristol Rovers in a West Country derby.

Nelson picked up a straight red card in the 3-3 draw with Cheltenham in midweek for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity so will be suspended for the clash.

Manager John Sheridan made the maximum number of changes against the Robins so he has a number of options when it comes to team selection. Neal Trotman, Durrell Berry and Dominic Blizzard were all rested and come back into contention.

Left-back Jamie Reckord and midfielder Hamza Bencherif both made their debuts for the Pilgrims and will hope to keep their places as will Maxime Blanchard and penalty hero Jake Cole.

Ryan Brunt is pushing for a start for Bristol Rovers as they look to bounce back from their derby day defeat.

Manager John Ward, who watched his side lose 2-1 to rivals Bristol City on Wednesday night, named Brunt as a substitute and introduced him for the final 10 minutes after he recovered from an ankle knock.

Tom Lockyer looks set to keep his place in the side but this match comes too soon for Ollie Clarke and Seanan Clucas. Clarke could return in a midweek friendly while Clucas has not long returned to training.

If Ward does decide to freshen up his side the he could look to Matt Gill and Garry Kenneth who were both on the bench at Ashton Gate.
