Following Tuesday's 3-1 home defeat by Crystal Palace, Sturrock said he hopes on-loan Manchester United right-back David Gray (ankle) and central defender Marcel Seip (groin) could come back into contention.

Against Palace, Mat Doumbe was restored at centre-back on the return from his one-match suspension and on-loan Manchester United defender Craig Cathcart impressed at right-back following his switch from the middle of the back four.

Sturrock is still without Scotland right-back David McNamee (fractured cheekbone) and Belgian striker Emile Mpenza (hamstring).

The Greens have not won since Boxing Day, a 2-0 home victory over fellow strugglers Southampton.

Lee Hendrie, Brian Howard and Chris Morgan are all major doubts for Sheffield United's trip.

Morgan, who was just coming back from injury, had to be stretchered off after barely half an hour of the Blades' FA Cup draw against Hull last weekend.

Hendrie was also forced off against the Tigers, while Howard has suffered a hamstring injury, but the good news for manager Kevin Blackwell is that

Morgan's injury is not as serious as first feared.

"Those three are causing me some concern," he said. "The good news with Morgan though is that the scans have proven that he hasn't done major structural damage to his knee.

"Howard has picked up a hamstring injury and Hendrie hasn't trained since coming off against Hull.

"All three are touch and go but the other two are more severe ones than Hendrie."
