"I had a word with caretaker boss Jocky Scott, asked for his advice, and he obliged which is a great credit to him," Pulis said after the goalless draw.
"We had a chat and between us we picked a team.
"I'd watched Plymouth a couple of times lately, and we made a couple of changes, and everyone worked hard.
"Spaces were appearing at the end as Southampton got a bit desperate."
