Simon Walton signs for Plymouth

The midfielder has cost Plymouth around £750,000 and has signed a four year deal. Walton joins from Q.P.R.

He didn't have the greatest of times at Loftus Rd. He broke his leg during pre season last year and ended the season on loan at Hull City.

Not 21 until until next month Walton is now playing for his 7th club. He made his debut for Leeds Utd as a 16 year in 2004 before moving to Charlton. From there he went to Q.P.R. and then to Plymouth but during that time has had loan spells at Ipswich, Cardiff and Hull City.

"This is a massive move for me," said the new signing.

"Over the past year, with injuries and whatever, I have hit a bit of a brick wall.

"I see this as an ideal place to get back on track as to where I want to be and what I want personally by being part of a team as well."

Walton said: "It's a lovely place (Plymouth), but, to be honest, football comes first for me and I saw this as a great move for my career.

"Obviously, the area helps and, hopefully, it's somewhere I can settle. But football was the main priority."

tHE BOSS IS HAPPY WITH HIS NEW RECRUIT

"I am delighted to complete this transfer," Sturrock told the club's official website. "Simon is a player who I have monitored for years and I feel he is the perfect person for us.

"He is 6ft 2in, strong, and athletic, and ideally suited to the sitting midfield role that we have been looking to fill.

"He is both young and experienced, and willing to learn, which is important. We have got a right good player for the future of Plymouth Argyle, a real nugget.

"We are prepared to wait for the right person, which Simon is, and hopefully there will be another two or three of his ilk following soon."
