Plymouth Argyle are set to sign striker Kenny Cooper on loan from 1860 Munich until the end of the season, according to the German club's official website. The 25-year-old joined 1860 Munich from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas at the start of the current season.

Cooper spent three years at FC Dallas, scoring 40 goals in 90 appearances.

The former Manchester United trainee, who has 10 international caps, made his debut for the USA on 20 January 2007 in a friendly match against Denmark.

Cooper told the 1860 Munich website he knows Plymouth coaches Paul Mariner and John Carver from his time in Major League Soccer.

He said: "They [Mariner & Carver] give me the chance to recommend me for the World Cup squad in the USA.

"And with my goals, I can hopefully contribute to the success of the club."

Cooper will be the second loan signing made by Plymouth boss Paul Mariner during the January transfer window, following the arrival of Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale at the club.

The deal to sign Cooper, who had a loan spell at Oldham in 2005, is not expected to be finalised before Plymouth's game at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
