Torquay 3 - 3 Plymouth Argyle

Argyle looked to have won the game in injury time with a penalty only for Torquay to themselves be awarded a penalty even deeper into time added on.

Rory Fallon levelled for Argyle on the stroke of half time after Torquay had taken a 1st half lead.

The Gulls then went 2 - 1 up before Gary Sawyer volleyed home. Argyle then thought they'd won it with Luke Summerfiewld scoring from the spot in stoppage time. But the referee Mr East then awarded Torquay a penalty which was despatched and the game ended 3 - 3.

"I was a bit disappointed," said Sturrock, who changed most of his team at half-time - as he had done in Monday's 2-0 win at Truro City.

"The defending was a bit sloppy at times, and one team played the way we wanted to play and one team did not. Our second-half team had a shape to it, and understood what we wanted to achieve.

"For the first-half team, using Rory [with long balls] was too easy an option," the Scotsman complained. "We reverted to type too much. To be fair, there were a lot of young boys in our team in the first half, but I still wanted them to show more confidence."

Sturrock added: "It was still a good work-out. There are a lot of my players who are much fitter than they were last season. I don't like losing three goals, but I'm quite happy."

Defender Chris Barker received a nasty cut on his eye and Paul Sturrock revealed that striker George Donnelly, who has played no part in the pre season games so far, will be out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.
