Walton pleased to end hoodoo

Walton made just his 14th start for Plymouth at the weekend - despite joining them in August 2008 - and was meant to spend this term playing Championship football for Sheffield United before knee ligament damage sustained in a friendly last summer curtailed his stay at Bramall Lane.

Walton said: "It was an emotional day. For me, there was relief as well. It was a big day for me, after what I've been through. It was the first time I've won in a Plymouth shirt.

"It was a special day for me, and - with no exaggeration - it was one I'll remember for the rest of my life.

"My intention was to try to last 90 minutes, but it was a bit of a surprise. I tired, which was inevitable, but I felt better than I thought I would. I was really pleased.

"To be back training and playing is great, but I just wish it was in better circumstances, and so does everybody else."
