Cup Draw TODAY!!!

Last updated : 04 December 2005 By Tom Kirk
It is often described as the most magical day in the football. Today, the F.A. Cup 3rd Round draw will be made today. Plymouth Argyle will be in the bag and could be drawn against either of the 43 other clubs currently playing in the top two tiers of English Football. So come January, the Pilgrims could possibly be facing champions Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or perhaps the world's most famous club Manchester United. Also in the draw, will another 20 balls representing the winners of this weekend's second round ties. So even though the glamour fixtures are possible, Tony Pulis & co. could face a trip to Burton or Burscough, Tamwoth or even Torquay.

Last year, we drew Everton at home whilst the Toffees were sitting 4th in the Premiership. However, local rivals Exeter scooped the prestigious trip to Old Trafford. Keep an eye out for Ball 29 - here are some other teams of interest:

1 Arsenal
10 Chelsea
21 Liverpool
24 Manchester United
58 Nuneaton Borough or Histon
62 Torquay United

* The 44 sides from the Premiership and Championship, now entering the competition, are allocated numbered balls on alphabetical listing (i.e. Arsenal through to Wolves; 1 - 44). The other 20 teams are allocated numbered balls in relation to what order they were drawn in Round 2

Whoever we face, we will need to improve dramatically on our efforts against Coventry yesterday. An appauling displaying by all involved in Green, bar David Norris, who typified yesterday who dependant we are on his abilities.  I have been impressed with Pulis, however I have just recently spotted a few flaws.  When I watch Argyle, I get the impression that the side favour a draw over risking their solitary point for a win.  Now I may eat these words should we triumph in our relegation battle, but it has not been the nature of successful Plymouth teams in the past to adopt such a minimalist, pesimistic attitude in home matches.  If only they could hold onto draws away from home, which leads to another point.  Results against Luton and QPR suggested that the new management may have been a step in the right direction in a bid to solve our frailties on our travels.  Pulis insisted from the moment he arrived that new blood was required, but no-one was brought in when perhaps fresh faces were really needed.  Suddenly, the team began to gel together, united in breaking down and defending against difficult opponents.  But now, TP has brought in Elliott Ward and Jason Jarrett, who have both walked into the first team.  I jave no quarrel with these players, but their inclusion has certainly disrupted the chemistry in the line-up.  Aljofree and Doumbe, both of whom had overcome lapses in form to form an effective partnership, now make way for Ward and recent displays out of position have not been good.  So plenty to think about before the trip to Watford next week.
